Uplifting the mall with a tree portal

Located at the heart of Causeway Bay, Lee Garden II is home to myriads of international luxury and lifestyle brands. LAAB was tasked with the challenge to uplift the shopping experience while the mall was in operation.

Curvilinear geometries were introduced to integrate the pillars at the entrance to create a tree portal that worked as a gateway for visitors. Natural materials, such as wood and terrazzo, were used along with careful placement of lighting to help soften and streamline the spatial experience. Brass details were embedded in the terrazzo floors and signage system to enhance a sense of elegance and sophistication.

The bathrooms were redesigned to integrate more caring functions such as baby-caretaking facilities, sensor doors for cubicles, and multifunctional washing counters. New wayfinding and shop signage systems were also installed to add clarity to the circulation and details to public space, creating an internal streetscape while enhancing details of mundane elements such as the escalator.
