Located at the intersection of four urban rivers (Pailao River, Xinqiao River, Wangfeng River and Tantou River), the Oyster Wetland Park plays an important role in local flood control and pollution interception while offering a public park experience for visitors. Collaborating with eLandscript, LAAB designed the Oyster Pavilion overlooking the intersection of the rivers.
Inspired by the packing of oysters, the diagrid trellis roof creates multiple skylights for sunlight to go through. The zigzag glass façade folds the surrounding in unpredictable ways, creating interesting visuals for visitors from afar while bridging the spatial boundary between interior and exterior. The Oyster Pavilion houses a café on one side and a public washroom on the other, providing multiple public services while framing the park entrance.
